THE VIOLIN'S VOICE SHOULD NOT BE BORING

Maxim -G.MAXUS- Guselschikov was born in 1966 in the city of Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, a multinational city with rich musical traditions. After graduating from the Alma-Ata Music School with a degree in violin, Max entered the conservatory the same year, but left after several years, being oversaturated with academicism. Guselschikov preferred to develop his own style of playing the violin, relevant to the present day. Max's motto: "The violin should not be boring!" justified itself: the group "MAXUS" he assembled gathered stadiums. After the perestroika, the violinist, popular in Alma-Ata, moved to Moscow, where he immediately became a sought-after artist: he received an invitation to cooperate from the famous chansonnier Mikhail Krug. Soon, music critics unanimously dubbed Maksim Guselschikov "the silver violin of Russian chanson".

Max was not confined to one genre. He actively participated in the studio and concert activities of the singer Butch, actor Nikita Dzhigurda, star of elite art Alexei Pal'tzsev (Koroli Kuhni), was the violinist and guitarist of the group "Yuta" and others. From 2007 to 2022 Max was performing with the group "Krematorium" and was engaged in joint creative work with the project "Kings of the Kitchen" and "Vertolet". He also has many solo projects, impressively performing pieces from his own album "Violin Tales". "Tales" is ethnic music in the author's interpretation: a mesmerizing synthesis of a gentle violin and an energetic rhythm.

Since 2022 Max is a resident of United States and resides with his family in Boston, MA. He is actively touring, performing in many festivals across the states, teaching several musical instruments and writing new albums.

Happiness is a thing to be practiced, like the violin. -John

..when I was born deep inside Mountains of Gods, Tien Shan in Central Asia. At the age of four, my family and I moved to a beautiful city of Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan and there picked up a violin at the age of five. I finished musical college at the age of 18 and got admitted into  The Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory...

..and that's where I figured: while classical music was an incredible inspiration, I wanted to find my own sound, a new style and my new way of performing. In 1986, I left Conservatory  and together with fellows we had created an experimental rock-band - MAXUS - which

immediately gained popularity and  started touring across Central Asia..

My Creative Process

My way of commutation with the world is through the music. Strumming strings - is how I meditate and find peace within and without. I share my feelings and emotions and energy with the world by writing and playing compositions, that are filled with the visions and associations which come from experiences and by traveling.
